Scutes
Like the scutes on a turtle's shell, all working together for a stronger structure, the ASPin-situCC has many partnering affiliations that work together.
Scutes to all current and past venues:
- The Wetlands Institute
The primary experience for ASPin-situCC participants. - Chelonian Research Institute (CRI)
Dr. Peter Pritchard's CRI has the most diverse collection of chelonians in the world. ASPin-situCC participants have been welcome to the CRI since 2001. Dr. Pritchard has collaborated with several past ASPin-situCC participants in their countries on reserach and conservation projects. - Dr. Tom Wilson's Herpetology Lab at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
Dr. Wilson's project focuses on riverine turtles of the Tennessee River. The graduate and undergraduate students working in his Herp Lab are using descriptive, comparative, and experimental studies to answer questions about the population and community ecology of riverine turtles in the Tennessee River Gorge. - Cape May County Benefit Motorcycle Poker Run For The Turtles
Karen and Charlie Buckley have the most "out of the shell" community based conservation project in the United States. ASPin-situCC participants are lucky to be able to help with this annual one day event. The link is to Karen's Turtle Singer webpage, use the motorcycle run button on turtlesinger.com to view pictures from all of the motorcycle runs. - Heinrich Ecological Services
Heinrich Ecological Services was established in 2002 and offers professional services on wildlife surveys and research, natural history programming and nature-based tours to a growing list of clients located throughout Florida and the southeastern United States. George Heinrich received ASPin-situCC participants in 2002, 2003, and 2004. - Savannah River Ecology Laboratory
The University of Georgia's Savannah River Ecology Laboratory has been an important center for extensive and intensive herpetological research since 1967. SREL researchers have captured, marked and released more than 1 million individuals of 100 species of reptiles and amphibians. Participants in the SREL herpetology research programs have always included faculty of the University of Georgia, post-doctoral associates, graduate students and undergraduate research participants from a variety of universities. Other participants include research technicians and numerous visiting herpetologists from throughout the world. - Northeast Turtle Conservation Program
